On April 24, 2010 RWUL and Women Make Movies Presents: The 2nd Annual Red Orchid Female Film Festival in Philadelphia at The Rotunda. This event is Free to the public and a special audience choice style film contest plus this festival will be traveling to three other cities in the spring of 2010.
RWUL Presents with the CCCADI: “I Luv Africa” Film Series and Community Discussion New York Sessions
Celebrate Film, Music, and more with this showcase of independent African Cinema and Music on April 30-May 1, 2010 at Caribbean Cultural Center (CCCADI) in New York. The event is free and open to the public and $5 donations are being accepted to go toward future programming.

FULL PROGRAM SCHEDULE
The” I Luv Africa” film series and community discussion is a free event open to the public that will feature independent films depicting stories about African culture and people. The “I Luv Africa” Film Series and Community Discussion New York sessions will be for two days and will include guest speakers, music, and film screenings.

This documentary film explores the impact youth in Senegal, West Africa have on the political landscape and how these young people used Senegalese Hip-Hop music as a political tool.

The Bronx Princess-Ghana
Directed by: Yoni Brooks and Musa Syeed
Follows headstrong 17-yeard old teenager Rocky’s as she leaves her mother in New York city and travels to Ghana West Africa to visit her father who is a chief (King). Filmed during Rocky’s transition from high school to college, this coming of age story shows how Rocky deals with her African heritage with her dream of independence.

Living the Hiplife-Ghana

This film is a musical portrait of urban street life in West Africa, looking at the Hiplife music of Ghana and influences found in this genre of African music.

Special Networking Afterparty with “Real Girls Guide to Everything Else”
The film festival not only will be featuring the films of talented female artists,
but filmmakers will have the chance to compete for recognition, a prize package, and a $200 award.
During the festival we will have a networking cocktail party for female filmmakers and valuable resources available for the filmmakers.
The Audience Choice award will be given to the filmmaker selected by the viewing audience as the film festival favorite.
The votes will be cast via our website and the voting polls will be open for three days. In addition this film festival will be traveling to New York,
